Putting the bar in barista

One of our focuses this year at Bristol Syrup Company is bringing cocktails to the masses, or more catchily “putting the bar into barista.”

With cocktails sales rising year on year, having them on drinks menus is a logical step for Cafés looking to expand their business. According to AG Barr the percentage of cocktails ordered in their bars rose by 13% between March 2020 and March 2022. With this increase predicted to continue in 2023, offering a selection of mixed drinks seems like a very sensible decision.

So with that in mind, we are heading to London Coffee Festival this year with the aim of helping baristas break into the world of cocktails.

From 10am on the 20th Bristol Syrup Company will have a breakout lounge at 93 Feet East for the over-caffeinated to relax, drink something long, fruity and refreshing and pick the brains of our bartenders. Of course, there will be coffee available for the addicts. However, the room will be an oasis for weary café-teers to rest their feet and charge their phones. With drink stations dotted around filled with everything needed to create hot and cold drinks, hot chocolates, iced teas, sodas, frappes and smoothies. Holding ship at the bar will be our Syrup Co bartenders dispensing cocktails, mocktails and knowledge to anyone who wants to bend their ear.

The following day you’ll find our charismatic Greg or equally personable Danny helping out on the Smirnoff stand, make sure you say hi. Then during the evening of the 21st things will be hotting up, for our Dusk till Dawn competition. We have partnered with our sister company Beyond the Bean and La Marzocco to host an evening like no other. Starting at 6pm in Juju’s Shoreditch, Bartenders and Baristas will compete as teams of two, vying to be the last pair standing. The final couple get pitted against each other. Who will be victorious, Dusk or Dawn? Why not head down and see for yourself…
